5A fun battery pack. Great gift for teens and pre-teens

The majority of packs are rectangular and come in the basic colors, silver, black and white. Occasionally you'll come across a battery pack that may also be available in a more bold color, but I can't say I've ever seen one as fun as this one, in a bean shape. It's small enough that it fits into the palm of my hands, so it's by no means bulky. The colors are bright and the surface is made of a shiny plastic, so the color comes across even nicer looking. These would be great battery packs to go with the new iPhone 5C in all the cool colors. These would be great gifts for kids and teens who have electronics like the Nintendo DS, iPod Touch, iPhone, PSP, etc.

This battery pack comes with a detached USB cable that has an Apple 30 pin connector, so you can charge devices like your iPhone 4/4s, iPod 4th gen and earlier models. For use with the new Apple devices that use a lighting cable, you can just use the USB cable that came with your device and plug it into the USB port located on one end of the battery pack. I am able to charge my iPad Mini using the lighting cable that came with my iPad and plugging it into the packs USB port. In addition to the detached cable and the open USB port, built into the side of the battery pack is a connected micro USB cable that charges up devices like digital cameras, Android phones, etc. However you're not just limited to devices that use Apple connections and micro USB. With the open USB port on the end, anything you have that charges using it's own USB cable can be charged with this pack. I am able to charge our GPS and my son's PSP with this battery pack as well, since they both came with a USB charging cable.

The Magic Bean's small size makes this battery pack super portable and the colors make really fun. If I was going to buy a battery pack for my kids or as a gift for someone else's kids, this would be the one!

Smaller power banks are ideal for charging phones but a bit small for fully charging a tablets. In my opinion the Plemo 5200mAh is the perfect size for charging smaller devices - like phones. Larger power banks are more suited for charging tablets - but are unnecessarily large and bulky unless you are actually using them for a tablet.

Here are my general guidelines for selecting the size of a external battery pack

- Less than 6000mAh - smaller in size and work well for smartphones - can be used on tablets in a pinch

- 6000mAh to 10,000mAh - a nice blend of size and storage capacity - ideal for people who will use their external battery pack for both smartphones and tablets

- Above 10,000mAh - Larger in size - probably too big and bulky to be used as a primary battery pack for smartphones, but they have enough power capacity to provide significant charge to a tablet.

Notes

- Features 1 USB outputs - one at 5V at 1A for smartphone

- Comes with a cable with an attached micro-USB, an additional 30 pin adapter for Apple products - and a micro-USB for for charging the device.

- Provides 5200mAh of capacity - which is enough to charge an iPhone twice and provides about a 75% charge charge to an iPad and about a 50% charge to an iPad 4

- Has a charge indicator - each light represents an increment of 25% charge - so one light is 25%, two lights is 50%, and three lights is 75% and four lights is 100%

- Does not come with a carrying case

- About the size of a computer mouse

Final verdict - A nice sized external battery pack for use with smartphones and (on occasion) Tablets.

5Amazing Way to Charge On-the-Go!

I just received my PLEMO Magic Bean in the mail today. I took it out of the box and I was amazed by what it does. I can charge my phone, computer and my iPod without even needing a charger or an electrical outlet. It really is like magic! It's super easy to use too. All I have to do is charge my Magic Bean with my computer and then it's ready to go! I'm so excited to have the Magic Bean because I do travel a lot and I think that it will be the perfect accessory to take with me on-the-go. It is also very reasonably priced for everything that you get with it! I still find it amazing that I can charge my phone and my iPod both at the same time. I love my Magic Bean and I think I will be purchasing more as gifts this Christmas!
